Is it possible to unlock a Korean cell phone in Canada?

I'm pretty sure it is, but we need some kind of card that works well? Like the Japanese phones have hypersim. o_o Also, if it works, what features are available? And what features would not be available? Thanks ~

My phone number of Korea does not work in Canada. But it was an older model Curitel. We have tried to Sim card from Canada, but did not work. So not sure bout the latest phones.
